Make overnight and multi-day calculations explicit
The calculator does not guess which day the end time belongs to. Enter 0 days for the same day, 1 for the next day, or 2 or more for a period that spans multiple 24-hour days. An equal start and end means zero with 0 days, 24 hours with 1 day, 48 hours with 2 days, and so on.
How do breaks work?
Enter an optional break in whole minutes. A 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM period minus a 30-minute break is exactly 8 hours. A break greater than the whole period is not allowed.
Can the time between two clock readings be more than 24 hours?
Yes. Set Days after start to 2 or more. For example, 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM two days later is 49 hours 30 minutes before any break.
Does this handle daylight saving?
No. This is ordinary clock arithmetic with every day treated as exactly 24 hours. It does not account for dates, timezones, clock changes or leap seconds.
Can I use seconds?
Yes. Enter 09:30:15 for 9 hours, 30 minutes and 15 seconds on a 24-hour clock. Clock minutes and seconds must be 00–59.
